How to develop guidance

The first step should be to avoid duplication of effort, starting with searching for existing, high-quality and up-to-date guidelines by asking a clear question and then searching for the best available guidance (Steps 1 and 2). This should be followed by a critical assessment of that guideline or health technology assessment for relevance and quality and then assembling the guideline team.
