Learn about us

ESN-CA has been long in the making. For years, many of us have talked about the need to:

  • organize ourselves so that there’s ‘no wrong door’ for decision-makers seeking to find the right forms of evidence when they need them
  • find ways for like-minded people – committed to timely, demand-driven evidence support – to collaborate
  • work within a collective-impact approach.

We always hoped that demand and/or funding would be the spur to getting organized. Paradoxically, some of us have never seen such a precipitous drop in demand for research evidence as we have seen in the year since the COVID-19 pandemic. As a likely corollary of this, there is no funding on the table.

Instead, ESIC has been the inspiration for creating ESN-CA for at least some of us. If all of the key players in the global evidence architecture can organize themselves to work within a collective-impact approach, surely (some of) the key players in Canada’s evidence-support system can do the same. So here we are. We welcome other like-minded people to join us.
