Data analytics

The ESN-CA data analytics hub – a role played by the Health Data Research Network Canada (HDRN Canada) – supports cross-jurisdictional analysis of provincial and territorial health data, as well as data across an increasingly broad array of human services.

HDRN Canada – and specifically its SPOR Canadian Data Platform – has established mechanisms to navigate data-access requests from two or more jurisdictions. It works to expand the sources and types of data (both clinical and social) and linkages available, harmonize and validate definitions for key analytic variables, develop algorithms for operationalizing these variables, support the partitioning of datasets across ‘trusted research environments, and the coordination of summary results from all data centres into a final analysis.

None of this will change.

What we do hope will change is that sustained funding will enable HDRN Canada to provide timely, demand-driven data analytics in response to policymaker and other decision-maker questions, and that all four hubs will become better at providing complementary responses to such requests.
