Qualitative insights
The qualitative insights hub undertakes timely, demand-driven qualitative research. This includes: 1) new qualitative studies undertaken rapidly when ‘windows’ of opportunity open; 2) rapid contextualized syntheses of what has been learned from previously conducted qualitative research; and 3) expert-informed contextualized syntheses that additionally benefit from deliberative engagement with subject-matter experts (e.g., program-delivery staff and Indigenous community leaders) who can help identify contextual considerations (for a particular policy, health system, population, or jurisdictional context) and what they mean for the relevance and implications of findings in a particular decision-making context.

The qualitative insights hub has a several year history of collaboration with the evidence-synthesis hub, as reflected in the following illustrative outputs:
- designing and delivering specialized services for diverse populations (collaborative evidence product – coming in 2027-01)
- actions to strengthen community resilience and psychosocial wellbeing in preparation for future pandemics (evidence synthesis – coming in 2026-12)
- Indigenous cultural safety within mainstream health systems: a rapid review of the literature and considerations for Indigenous Canadian Armed Forces members accessing military health services (evidence synthesis – published in 2025-08).
We are not aware of another existing applied qualitative insights network in Canada.
