Explore our global contributions
As we describe in the ‘Leverage global public goods’ section of our website, ESN-CA is keen to contribute to (and of course leverage) the transformative Evidence Synthesis Infrastructure Collaborative (ESIC). While most of ESN-CA’s time and energy is devoted to providing timely, demand-driven evidence support, including by preparing ultra-rapid evidence syntheses contextualized to the Canadian context, we consider it essential to also contribute to the creation of global public goods as well as to leverage global public goods in our work.
ESN-CA is well positioned to make global contributions by contributing to three of the six initial spokes in the hub-and-spoke model being used by the health hub:
ESN-CA may also be well positioned to contribute to other spokes in the future, as well as to sectoral evidence-synthesis hubs beyond the health hub, many of which are expected to bring a health determinants and outcomes lens to their work.
ESN-CA will be in a position to contribute rich synthesis-derived data (e.g., findings from and risk-of-bias assessments of empirical studies) to ESIC’s open evidence-synthesis data system (or ODS). ESN-CA will also benefit tremendously: 1) by being able to access synthesis and AI ‘ready’ data from the ODS’s ‘continuous evidence surveillance’ mechanisms; 2) by being an ‘early adopter’ of approaches being developed through ESIC’s methods and process transformation; and 3) more generally by working alongside ESIC’s sectoral and regional hubs using a collective-impact approach.
