Promoting Healthy Weights Using Population-based Interventions in Canada

The growing number of Canadians who are overweight or obese is both a health and economic burden for the country. Recent data show one in four adults in Canada is overweight or obese, and an array of health-related problems such as diabetes, cardiovascular disease, respiratory and mental health issues, and some types of cancer have been demonstrated to be associated with being overweight. This project involves preparing an evidence brief that examines the problem and the related evidence, and offers options to be considered by stakeholders who took part in a dialogue to consider how best to identify ways to promote healthy weights using population-based interventions.
