Identifying How Area-based Socio-economic Indicators are Measured in Canada


Despite the widespread use of and interest in using area-based socio-economic indicators (ABSIs), there has been no systematic search and synthesis of the various ways ABSIs have been created in Canada, and how these methodological choices affect their performance. Given this, the British Columbia Ministry of Health has requested this rapid synthesis to collect and synthesize evidence about how to measure and construct ABSIs in Canada.
