McMaster Health Forum | Impact - Embed Supports

We have helped provincial, national and international health-system leaders make more consistent use of the best available research evidence in strengthening their systems, and in getting the right programs, services and drugs to those who need them. We have also watched with great interest as health-system leaders have taken steps on their own to institutionalize evidence-informed decision-making.  

Two examples among many of our impact include:

• the World Health Organization overhauling its guidance-development process as a result of our documentation of significant opportunities for improvement in how research evidence is incorporated in the process; and
• many health-system leaders enhancing their use of research evidence as a result of Julia Belluz’s Science-ish column in Maclean’s magazine, which we supported in terms of both developing her capacity to find the evidence against which to assess the claims being made by these leaders and helping her to identify experts who could speak to that evidence as part of her column (all of which she continues to do in her new role at Vox, an online news organization based in the United States)
