Ben LiQueen Elizabeth Scholars in Strengthening Health Systems (2016)
Ben is currently an undergraduate student in the Bachelor of Health Sciences program specializing in biomedical sciences. He is also a Fellow at the McMaster Health Forum and has contributed to a number of initiatives, including synthesizing information for evidence briefs that inform stakeholder dialogues and citizen panels, conducting an evaluation of the Rapid Response program, and organizing student-led events on topical health issues.
As an outgoing Queen Elizabeth Scholar, he will be travelling to Australia to intern at the New South Wales Ministry of Health, where he will learn more about and contribute to health policy decision-making and implementation. By having the opportunity to shadow senior government officials and observe the daily processes within government, Ben will strengthen his knowledge within areas in which he is particularly interested including analyzing the impact of health policy on populations and finding ways to optimize their ability to improve health outcomes.
