Aunima Bhuiya

Aunima Bhuiya is Scientific Lead, Evidence Synthesis, Behavioural & Implementation Science at the McMaster Health Forum. She leads and conducts timely, demand-driven contextualized evidence syntheses (including living and rapid evidence profiles, rapid syntheses, evidence briefs) that respond to the requests of health and social system leaders and other interest-holders. Aunima also brings a behavioural and implementation science lens to her broader work at the Forum, connecting insights from these fields to strengthen how evidence is interpreted and made actionable for decision-makers.

Previously, she worked at the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention in Atlanta and the World Health Organization in Geneva. In those roles, Aunima supported the development and dissemination of publicly available guides, policy reports, and toolkits to inform the selection and implementation of evidence-based strategies that address chronic diseases.

Her research interests include implementation science, knowledge synthesis, inclusive leadership, and health systems policy research. These experiences and research interests motivate Aunima to contribute to the collective effort to bridge research, innovation, and people in order to improve health systems.

Aunima received her PhD and MSc in Health Systems Research (Implementation Science) from the University of Toronto, which were supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research (CIHR) Canada Graduate Scholarships (CGS-D and CGS-M).
