Mike Wilson

Assistant Director

Mike Wilson’s research is focused on supporting the use of research evidence by health system decision-makers, including policymakers and stakeholders such as community-based organizations. This includes conducting syntheses (e.g., systematic reviews, overviews of reviews, rapid syntheses, citizen briefs and evidence briefs) that can be used by health system decision-makers to address pressing health system issues; convening citizen panels to identify citizens’ values and preferences for addressing health-system issues; and convening stakeholder dialogues to support collective problem solving among policymakers, stakeholders and researchers. Mike developed and continues to lead the McMaster Health Forum’s Rapid Response and is conducting an evaluation of it.

Mike co-teaches (with Dr. John Lavis) an undergraduate course on the politics of health systems for the Bachelor of Health Sciences (Honours) program at McMaster and a doctoral seminar for students in the Health Policy PhD Program.

He holds a BHSc. (Honours) from McMaster University, studied political science at the University of Toronto, and completed a PhD in the Health Research Methodology Program as well as a diploma in Health Services and Policy Research at McMaster University.
