Daniel F. Patiño-Lugo

Daniel is a full professor at the Faculty of Medicine at the University of Antioquia in Colombia. Daniel earned his PhD in Health Policy from McMaster University and has experience in knowledge translation, health policy and systems research, and implementation research. He is the co-founder and director of the Unit of Evidence and Deliberation for Decision Making (UNED), a university-based team that uses global and local evidence synthesis to inform decision-making by government policymakers among other decision-makings, including the formulation of health, education and climate policies. Daniel is also the co-director of the Evidence Hub of Latin America and the Caribbean (HubLAC), a platform that promotes connections a,ong evidence intermediaries and decision-makers across sectors in the LAC region. Daniel has contributed to global evidence-synthesis initiatives and commissioned work led by organizations such as the World Health Organization (WHO), the Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC), and the UN Secretary-General’s Scientific Advisory Board. In Colombia, Daniel has worked with the Colombian Ministry of Health and Social Protection and the Ministry of Education, producing rapid evidence syntheses and policy briefs to inform decision-making processes. He is an Associate Editor for the Health Research Policy and Systems journal and also a board member of the Campbell Collaboration.
