EU report and guidelines on rapid science for policy

Last November, the Forum’s Mike Wilson and Kerry Waddell facilitated a two-day workshop for the European Commission’s Joint Research Centre (JRC) Science Insights team, which brought together 16 participants alongside team members to deliberate about the challenges, approaches and implementation considerations related to building a ‘science for policy’ team within the JRC.

A new JRC publication (authored by Wilson, Waddell and the Forum’s director John Lavis) synthesizes the key findings from this workshop into operational guidance to support the delivery of rapid science for policy (RS4P) products that can timely and effectively inform the European Commission's decisionmakers.

The report also identifies and profiles approaches, methods, tools and best practices that can be used to support the development of RS4P products that are derived from existing forms of evidence.
