Alzheimer's and other dementias
Dementia, one of the major causes of disability and dependency among older people worldwide, is a collective name for progressive brain syndromes that affect memory, thinking, orientation, comprehension and behaviour. There are many forms of dementia, including Alzheimer’s disease, vascular dementia and Lewy body dementia. Worldwide, close to 50 million people have dementia and 7.7 million new cases are expected every year. Although dementia mainly affects older people, it is not a normal part of ageing. Read our products below for evidence and insights about how the health system building blocks are used to provide care for Alzheimer’s and other dementias.
